Serious Post (but the next one will have a unicorn)

As media interest is rekindled about "what the hell is actually going on in Iraq" by the recent testimony before Congress, I'm sure some of you are pondering the same question. So here is a more serious post than the usual garbage I spew.
While some crazy guy yelling "bring them home" in Congress is what I'm sure many Americans relate as the immediate and unquestionable solution, we have unfortunately gotten ourselves into a mess thats untangling places a lot of people's lives and more people's freedom at stake.

http://www.mnf-iraq.com/ - This is the command I work for (Multi-National Forces - Iraq). Look at "The New Face of Iraq " link in the menu at the top of the page has good information about what is being done for Iraq's reconstruction, as well as information about their government. "Provincial Iraqi Control" in that menu is a good, quick synopsis of the general plan.

http://www.mnstci.iraq.centcom.mil/ -The Multi-National Security Transition Command - Iraq. This command is responsible for training Iraqi security forces and applicable government sectors to ensure the government is able to sustain adequate control once the Coalition forces are gone. The links on the right to magazine/newsletter productions have good info on what MNSTC-I is doing and on the Coalition forces (all the different nations that are part of the Operation Iraqi Freedom campaign).

http://www.usaid.gov/iraq/ - The US Agency for International Development - Information on what this agency is doing to support sustainment of a free Iraq under the newly established and evolving government and, more importantly, regional government's role in this transition. The pdf link in the center is an overview of the PRTs, or Provincial Reconstruction Teams,which in addition to many roles, are making great efforts to bring these factions who have spent their entire lives at war with each other into peaceful talks to further the future of their nation.

http://iraq.usembassy.gov/ - US Embassy in Iraq - In the International Zone (IZ) in Baghdad, the Embassy's web page contains the information and figures from Ambassador Crocker and General Petraeus' testimony to Congress. Under the "Policy News" and "Resources" tabs in the upper menu also give good information on US policy and Iraqi government, respectively.
